Filmed in France during wartime,Cocteaus ambitious adaptation of the fairytale was at the cutting edge of special effects at its time.Cocteau used the black and white medium to it's fullest advantage with his fantastic sets,angles,props and costumes.Heavily symbolic,dreamlike at times and visually one of the best films ever.Beautifully done.
