Ahhhhh, let us all pause to drink deeply from the cool, clear, deep intellectual fount that IS William Friggin' Kristol, the man wasn't quite smart enough to BE Dan Quayle, so he only worked for him. These are the brilliant PNACers who brought us such hits as "The War on All Reality" and "Operation Screw the Pooch - Steal the Hooch", NOT TO MENTION all the wonderful things they've done for us in Iraq. I HaTe to plug a Republican but the conservative GOP strategist Kevin Phillips really skewers these guys in two of his most recent books, also, there's a good book on the subject titled "American Fascists" by a guy named Chris Hedges* who is the son of a theology professor at Princeton. (I think)

[*Not to be confused with Benson Hedges which, if memory serves, was a dry, slightly formaldahyde-flavored brand of cigarettes - or maybe it was a spin-off of the sitcom "Soap"... I sumtimes forgits stuff when I misses my medicationals...] <='/

AEI made itself into a joke by using clueless squirrels like Clifford May, and now the White House has announced that one of the AEI "scholars" named Gordon Gekko or Buzz Windrip (or something like that) has pimped himself out to write Dick Cheney's glorious historical biography about how he single-handedly restored dignity back to the Whitre House, stole, pricatized and laundered the entire batch of federal budget surpluses left-over from the Clinton era, liberated Iraq and made gasoline available for free for the entire American public and invented the phrase "compassionate conservative".

Long Live The Big Lie. Slavery is Freedom, The Wedge Issue Talking Point is the Word of God, Bless Us All, Mammon and Cthulhu, in the Holy Name of the Exhaulted Leader George Reagan Bush and the Beware the Salted Pretzel, Amen.

Just about every policy initiative of the Bush administration was written up at AEI back in the late 90s: Invade Iraq, 'democratize' the Middle East (i.e. bust Syria and Iran), more 'robust' support for Israel, jack-up the Defense budget to Cold War levels, cut taxes on the rich, de-regulate energy and finance...AEI has a few honest scholars (Charles Murray, Norman Ornstein) but for the most part they are fanatics and morons, or hybrids of both (Newt Gingrich). Close ties to Dick Cheney: these are the people that run your government.
