I got a chance to go to the Atlas Foundation's 25 anniversary dinner last night, and they really are an impressive organization.

Their mission is to spread economic liberty and capitalism around the world, and they support and give guidance to small free market think tanks around the world.

Their message and delivery is one of optimism, openness, and development. It's not to protect their own wealth, but to help others raise themselves up to enjoy our same comforts.

The keynote was 20/20's John Stossel, and Milton Friedman was in attendance.

Sadly, what struck me most was how much this compelling message of individual liberty and the potential of humanity to thrive when out from under the shackles of a restrictive government has been so distorted by the current Republican administration. The messages I heard last night do not seem to be shared by current incarnation of the Republican party.

All the more reason for groups like Atlas to continue to fight the good fight.
