There's not a song on this album that wouldn't go into my top 100 of all time. Just doing eight masterpieces shows the kind of restraint I wish more like-minded experimental bands would have. There was a time in my life when I listened to this record every day, and if I ever go insane I will blame Tom Verlaine. Both lyrics and guitar are stellar. So many unforgettable moments on this album: the way the record break out of left and right speakers on "See No Evil" (actually my least favorite of the eight); the call-and-response on "Venus"; the lightning guitar breaking through the discord on "Friction"; the intentional mis-timing of drum and bass on "Marquee Moon"; the weird rising riff on "Elevation"; the lovely rhythm guitar on "Guiding Light"; Richard's great solo on "Prove It"; and the shift into minor key at the beginning of "Torn Curtain." This album made me start to learn guitar; and when I gave up, it was because I recognize that I would never be able to learn any of these songs.

One of the five best rock albums of all-time,Marquee Moon is intense, funny, thrilling, and endlessly listenable.
