An exceptionally well-made sub may garner something, but that is a rare thing...

"Sandwich artist"? What a wonderful turn-of-the-century bullsh#t American euphemism for "low-wage-tomato-slinger". . .

I always assumed they were doing it for the love of their art. I thought the deal with fast food franchises was that you got bad food and no service, there-by eliminating the need to express gratitude.

I used to be an artist of the sandwich, and actually saw a fair share of tips. They always surprised me but who was I to argue? And around the holidays people loved to tip their local fast food employee. Again, who was I to object? One guy, though, would put out his own personal tip cup. Tacky, but there was always money in it by the end of the day.

I usually don't tip sandwich shops. However, they put more effort in than the guy who pours a cup of coffee, so you could argue that they are deserving of a tip.

I'm sure they aren't making much working there, but they are far from being "artists".ARTISTS would be free to express themselves, possibly by heaping more than the tiny measurement the company allows of the sandwiches main ingrediant and thus giving me my moneys worth.Should they break the rules for me,and risk their job,I'll tip them-otherwise-no go!

Well, I'll drop my change in the tip jar if there is one, but that's barely a "tip". Same goes for the specialty ice cream stores.
