As he got older and his health got worse, he certainly started getting crotchety. Of course, if you had to spend most of your adult life dealing with French politicians, you can't expect to be too cheerful.

Technically, Napoleon was not French, he was Corsican and he spoke French with an Italian accent. Yeah, I'd be kinda ticked if I were shorter than my fellow military officals and that my spouse couldn't produce a male heir.
