That's why it's best to increase the taxes on the eastern coast of the red sea. Never Mag, it's marginalized the over seas business corporates. But the Japanese and the Americans have of course provide some leverage, which might have gave the pillars to eastern, southern and even northern hemispheres. America did a good respected job. Therefore I don't see any, except uncle sam might have upset many American businessmen someways. Reagan was such a man to revere in this regard, and cannot suffer any blames. Reagan administration acted purely right, and has never misused any international financial oppression. Sometimes we misunderstand America, both American themselves, and the foreigners. Even Clinton did a good job in Africa, and did not used any oppression. But instead though, he funded most private sectors, to help the banks, including aids campaign.

This issue hasn't attracted much attention (meaning not much vitriol) but I think this is one of the most defining of the issues separating liberals from conservatives (and moderates). Conservatives don't clamor for pure capitalism, just less government intrusion. Over-regulation of businesses (like dictating what percentage of minorities a firm has to hire, regardless of the percentage of qualified applicants) is too often wasteful of time and efforts for miniscule benefits compared to the true cost.

Your local newspaper probably has trouble with this concept. If they tell you that a new construction project, financed by a bond issue or "grant" money has been approved, they'll state how many jobs will be "created" but not how long the jobs will last. That is not job creation, unless the businesses moving into a new facility expand their operations. An infrastructure improvement project doesn't "create" jobs, it rents them.

Governments don't create jobs very often. When they do, your taxes have to go up to pay the people who take the new government jobs. Is that economic development, or runaway spending?

Businesses create jobs. Governments, too often, create oppression. That is why we have a constitution to specifically limit the powers and authorities of the government. It clearly confers all rights (life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness) on the governed, then specifically delineates those areas where the government "shall not" intrude or make laws. It's a simple concept, really, one we've completely lost.

Capitalism and government control need each other as a counter-balance. . .having pure capitalist tendencies leads to oppression (financial or otherwise) don't believe me? Check out the medical insurance industry and tell me we don't need more regulation and investigation. . .oh, the Oil industry sure has me and my kid's interest at heart as well. The myth that 'those people' hate business is a fairy tale created by. . .business. . .Big business is an entity that is neither bad nor good, but like anything else, it cannot run wild without checks and balances. . .

I've never understood the Far Left's hatred of (big!) business. Business is the engine of our economy, and I don't think that economic success should be a stigma.

But it seems naive to me to label liberals as the party of big government. That may have been true in the 80's, but if the Bush Administration has taught us anything, it's that Republicans will move spectacularly quickly to sell out their principles - specifically that of small government - should power be concentrated in their hands.

There's no party of ideas, folks. There's only politicians trying to cement their power, by any means necessary.

And the blame lies with us - the more we choose to support partisan politics over ideals, the more we enable the sort of idealogical sell out that we've seen from President Bush (and the small number of conservatives who still support him).

The smart and capable EO would seem to be trying to "rally the base" with this sort of list. Unfortunately, it's become unclear which party stands for which ideals - just another casualty of what happens when we judge our leaders by their ability to win office, as opposed to their ability to advance ideas.
