I am by no means a big fan of Soundgarden, but the band did release at least three classic singles in the 1990's, namely "Black Hole Sun", "Fell On Black Days", and "Burden In My Hand". While the former may be the most remembered, primarily due to the memorable video (as noted in the prior comments) and its omnipresence on the video music stations back in the day, but in my opinion the latter two remain the better songs. "Black Hole Sun" simply sounds overly sedated and drags on occasion. Nevertheless, the single was the most successful of the three ("Black Days" not even breaking the Top 40) on the American mainstream chart, appearing for 11 weeks in 1994 (#24), and has been covered by Paul Anka (which has to be heard to believed).

Whenever I mention this band and this song people look at me as if I'm a visitor from Mars. I remember this song as the video was just so damn amusing and twisted. I loved the way they distorted peoples faces to the point they look animated.

This is a band that seems to do the same kind of thing in every song. ITs good because it becomes a signature sound, but they became boring to me, however this song is one of their best by far.
