A fairly original song when it was released.  Seemed to have alot of passion in it.

It is my understanding that Sinéad O'Connor originally refused to record "Nothing Compares 2 U" since it was written by another songwriter (namely Prince); however, her only true time in the spotlight really hit the mark. Both O'Connor's vocals and the accompanying video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNquJWfuVHw) verged on haunting (for lack of a better word). The strength of this single is evidenced by the fact that it was the biggest song in 1990, charting in the States for 15 weeks (#1 for 4 weeks). (Prince did subsequently release a live version on his "Hits" compilation, but it doesn't approach OConnors version.)
