Can't compare it to the Wild Animal park as the zoo is in the middle of town with limited area, where the WAP has probably a thousand acres or more to play with. As a ZOO, it is wonderful, I was disappointed in the small areas the big cats had, some were in smallish cages, not good for an animal like that, I hope they are fixing that problem. They were working on the polar bear exhibit when I was there, and it looked like it would be a good one. One thing, it is a big zoo, and it is on hills, so it can be daunting walking around it in typical warm, sunny southern Calif weather, wear VERY comfortable shoes, and carry a bottle of water to sip as you go. Try the sky tram if you dare, and visit the hummingbird house, they are so tiny and cute!
I don't bemoan the price of admission, it is not cheap, but think about it, it is not cheap to feed and maintain these animals in good health either! I might bemoan the price of a disney resort, but never the Zoo or Seaworld, as they have living, breathing hungry mouths to feed on a daily basis, and some eat a LOT!
