Its nice seeing animals up close, and it always make the kiddies happy, but I can't justify this money-making / non-educating situation for the explotation of the animals being kept.

 | alpepper (22) 07/23/2004 | Best family destination in San Diego. Much better than the zoo (which can get physically tiring after awhile). Sea World SD recently added an Escape from Atlantis ride attraction like the one in Orlando. It's a blast. Best time to see Shamu is at night when he dose his House of Douse. It's really cool at night with the added light show.

 | sunglazd (0) 06/04/2003 | LOVE it!!!! I don't think this is as good as the one in Orlando however, but this is a wonderful place anyway. When I went, you could have an orca experience by wading into calf deep water and actually stroking the Orca! It was wonderful! I am not sure they do that anymore however.
I absolutely fell in love with Beluga whales at the Orlando SW, they did not have them in SD when I was there, maybe now, maybe not, but they are so special and such a treat to see! The whales are what I go for, they are so wonderful/intelligent and to see them up close like that, makes you realize what we can all lose if they are hunted or environmentally poisoned out of existance.
Again, not cheap to visit, but if you come from Kansas, where do you see Orcas in the real live flesh and fins? They eat a lot, and need a lot of attention, and that is the cost of the price of admission.

 | Shroomwoman (13) 08/13/2000 | My visit to SeaWorld (San Diego) last week was really enjoyable. Everyone, including the adults, got a huge kick out of feeding the dolphins and sea lions, and we all thought that Shamu's show was impressive. Other highlights included the flamingo pool (where we saw eggs, chicks, and lots of interesting bird activity) and going through the penquin house. The crowds weren't a problem, and we had no trouble getting around to most of the attractions. I would definitely go back for another visit.

 | Fena1640om (0) 11/26/1999 | This is the best place to visit in San Diego. Seeing Shamu always amazes me, no matter how many times we go - and we have season passes!
