The Queen of Country Rock....need I say more.. She carried on her mentor Gram Parsons' (who incidentally should also be included in the Hall of Fame)vision of bringing ancient bluegrass and country song structures with poetic lyrics to rock audiences by infusing it with rock attitude and rhythm and blues and rockabilly musical influences without compromising the authenticity of either country or rock. Few country rock bands accomplished this.... Emmylou, as the leader of country rock in the late 70's, infused a traditional influence rarely seen in bands like The Eagles or Linda Ronstadt. She could cover Chuck Berry or The Beatles and make them sound like ancient blues or 19th Century parlour ballads. Her band, The Hot Band gave rise to talents like Rodney Crowell, Ricky Skaggs, Albert Lee and featured the guitar talents of James Burton...Emmylou has had the greats of the greats in the now legendary Hot Band,,, When country rock artists like Ronstadt decided to 'go pop' Emmylou despi... With an angelic voice, Emmylou Harris picked up where the legendary Gram Parsons left off. Her blend of Progressive Country music has been capable of eliciting any kind of emotion she wanted to. As such, the contributions of Emmylou Harris to contemporary music were astounding and the respect she has within the industry is stratospheric. Despite the perception of casual fans that she was primarily a Country artist, the music industry has not pigeonholed her there and an induction for Emmylou Harris is not as left field as people would think.

With a career spanning some fifty years, very few artists have remained as current and in tune with the times without ever abandoning her roots. Emmylou is both timeless and of the ages.

Has recorded dozens of solo records, side projects, duet and Trio albums, guest starred on and released likely hundreds of misc. vocal performances over time. Her early work with Gram Parsons. Live performances Emmy's ability to be a trend maker in country, pop, rock, altrock, to name a few genres. Her introducing Vince Gill, Rodney Crowell, Buddy Miller, as top flight guitarists and band headers. Deserving as anyone.
