Whilst I recognise their contribution to the field of music as very important (and they were actually the most commercially successful band in Azerrad's "Our Band Could Be Your Life" reaching the Top 40 on the albums chart in 1994), trying to listen to them is no easy job. I took "EVOL" from my brother's collection and found it interesting, but then found "Sister" quite unlitenable for me. so take my rating with a grain of salt.

They compare favorably to the Velvet Underground, but unlike VU, they had chart success, which should put them in sooner or later.

Sonic youth is oen of the most recognised punk rock band in the 80's & 90's. they influenced the way of coledge rock (like rem did) they have stuck to their guns for 25 years & has moved the way of punk rock after the break ups of the sex pistols & the clash
