I didn't like the song at first, then when I found out what it meant, and I started really listening to the lyrics, well...

This song was okay, nothing special but they are just nuts about this band in Australia. Apparently both they and Men at Work still fill the big stadiums down there.

Looking back "Beds Are Burning" was one of those run of the mill alternative rock songs of the mid 1980's. While the single is okay in my opinion (though I understand why some would deem it great), the vocals are relatively weak, I rarely make it through the entire song when it's played on the radio, and it simply doesn't hold a candle to most of its contemporaries on this list. For the record, "Beds Are Burning" charted for 9 weeks in the U.S. in 1988, peaking at #17.
