I don't know if Harry had the target sights on his Model 29, which is merely whitening around the cutout part of the back sight, but Harry's weapon had the rest.
With a full power cartridge, it has heavy recoil and has a loud bark. It is not for the faint of heart! Do as Harry did we learned in "Magnum Force." Harry used .44 Special cartridges. This has the same size bullet as the magnum, but the case is shorter and the propellant much less. You get a large caliber bullet with lots of knock-down power, but much less recoil and report.
I own three Model 29's and am very familiar with the weapon.
