My first goldfish was a fantail; their fat little bodies don't glide through the water as gracefully as comets or commons do, but they're still fun fish to watch; I have had little luck getting them to full size, though (I usually get them to 2 inches, but they can get up to 6 inches or so; a doctor at the clinic I work at had hers grow up to about five inches, though).
