Chicago Hope 5

A hospital TV show where sometimes the patient actually died ( I mean the character, not the actor playing the patient, who was usualy allowed to live). First episodes, as always, were best. We listened to informative debates (masked as entertainment) among admin/physicians Mandy Patinkin, Adam Arkin, Hector Elizando, and Mark Harmon about real life in a hospital where focus turned to real health issues and people of all races and ages who had diseases you could look up in your medical dictionary.
If you had a fever of unknown origin (could it have been the bite from the eighteen legged spider during your trip to S. America?-Nah, don't bother the dr. by telling him about it) wanted a doctor who really cared, and cared deeply and personally about you, your personal life, your love life and so on, you would head to Chicago Hope. When Mark Harmon fixed his big blue eyes on you, you just knew that you were on your way, through a maze of scans, biopsies, and any test they could think of, while we watched as, through closed door arguments between other doctors over which one really cared the most and had the best plan. If anyone could save you, . .Series took a nose dive when Patinkin left to pursue other paths but it still had some good episodes before it finally shut down
