I'm tempted to give this five stars to get this beer higher up on the list where it belongs. But compared to other craft beers, I can only go four stars. Even so, a fine brew on the lighter side of the micro-brew spectrum. Hazy amber color, modest head, some lacings. Taste is sweet malts with a citrus hop bitterness. Pretty well balanced amber ale. Abv is 6.1%.

I had previously rated Red Tail a 3 after having it in a bottle here on the East Coast a couple of years ago. However, my cousin had a keg of Red Tail at his wedding! Kudos to my cousin for having something exciting at his reception rather than the same boring, mass produced beers. Since it was a wedding, I had plenty of glasses to sample from and judge. I was much more impressed with Red Tail this time around than I had been before. It has a great taste to it with just the right amount of hops. I would definitely imbibe Red Tail again if I come across it.

One of the best around, even better than Sierra Nevada Pale Ale and Anchor Steam. Dark, rich, great flavor. If you visit the brewery in Hopland, they'll bring you free tastings to pick your favorite from. This is their best, imo.
