It's much easier to conduct life threatening scientific research on something, or some one, if they are equated with unclean animals from the other side of the world though.

Called a "pig" by Europeans because of the slight squeals they make. Probably called "Guinea" pigs because they were introduced to Europe from Peru by way of "Guiana" in South America. Definitely a misnomer.
