yes a dog should be taken outside before grooming. however sometimes even that does not always work. our elderly shih tzu is taken out before she gets groomed. we used to take her in the car and drive her a few miles away. just every time she knew where we were going and had an accident in the car. guess she was freaking out and due to old age has a harder time controlling herself. we now pay the extra money to have a mobile unit come to our house. helps for the most part. she still had an accident the first time in the van. the groomer who has been in the business for over 25 years did not seem to mind she said it happens often enough. and considering our "girl" is pretty old { 14 years} she was nice about it. we always let Fancy out but she must get freaked. she never bites, and always gets commended for being sweet and cooperative.
