Sausalito Summernight (Diesel) 4

"Sausalito Summernight" (by the Dutch band Diesel) is one of those nifty, benign early 80's songs that should have been more popular when it was released and might (and should) have reached loftier heights if only it had been covered. The opening hook is just flat out one of the best ever recorded though the break dates the song (which makes the 7" better than the longer album version). Nevertheless, this awesome single can only get four stars as a Big 80's song when compared to others on this list. For the record, "Sausalito Summernight" only charted in the U.S. for 6 weeks in 1981, peaking at #25, and I'm not aware of any covers (as noted earlier).
