I didn't know this happened, so I don't think its that big of a deal. The one thing I do remember about softball from this last year was that the US lost their first game in about a decade.

After being upset in 2005 by Japan, the US Women's National Softball Team came out with a smashing performance in Oklahoma City. After such steamrolling victories such as 14-0 over Great Britain, 14-0 over China, and 9-0 over Australia (all using the international runs ahead rule), the US defeated Japan in the final 5-2. With pitchers like Cat Osterman and Jennie Finch coupled with bats like Jessica Mendosa and speed from Natasha Watley, the US showed their dominance in that other bat-and-ball sport with style.
