Responsible, common sense use of guns is fine and it's a right in this land. Of course, like most things, there are some individuals who go overboard on this, but I have no problem with the right to bear arms. That's my serious position on this issue. Here comes my silly one; Some of my favorite 'gun nuts' include numbah, genghis, and that far right wing, warmongering, "the only good human is a dead human" ape, played by James Gregory, the guy who used to play Inspector Luger on Barney Miller, in the "Beneath The Planet of the Apes" film.

Guns are totally cool, but they are also totally dangerous lethal weapons. This is a pretty good issue to use to illustrate the stupidity of a two-party system. Like there are two sides to be on, and only two sides, liberal or conservative. If you oppose gun control you are necessarily expected to be pro-life, supportive of the death penalty, pro-military, and against gay marriage. If you support gun control, then you are automatically assumed to be pro-choice, for affirmative action and welfare, and against capital punishment. Complex political issues cannot be neatly divided into two opposing camps. It only encourages a simplistic world-view in which Americans feel they have to choose one side or the other. I suppose it's easier than thinking for ourselves.

It's just as wrong to classify NRA members as "gun nuts" as it is to call non-neo-cons "pinkos" and such.I firmly support the right of law abiding citizens to own guns. After all,the first thing many Dictators and Tyrants throughout history have done is to disarm the populace. However,to be totally honest, there ARE some people who are WAY too fond of their firearms. But that's a minority.Lets be fair.

Ahh, the contention that all gun owners are crazy. No, crazy would be better suited to the idiot that tries to break into my house. (numbah ponders which caliber to use)

Pretty funny. . .some validity to this one. . .a citizenry should certainly be armed, but this label fits those who think that attending shows and buying rifles is a heck of a way to spend a Saturday instead of studying in college. . .

The founding fathers were gun nuts. That's why they put that 2nd Amendment in there. One of these days the loony left is going to find a way to excise it with an exacto knife. I intend to go down with both barrels blasting. Bring it on, girlie men.

I plead guilty to the charge of being a gun nut, your worship. Just don't try to break into my Hunnic yurt!
