 | StanUzbeck (16) 07/28/2006 | I hate this term. It is designed to portray all liberals as being elitist while conservatives are the only "true" Americans. Listen, John Kerry may be the wealthiest man in American politics, but ALL politicians are wealthy, or at least exceedingly comfortable financially. The Kennedys were limousine liberals. So what? At least they took a principled stand. The middle-class hippies of the 1960's who protested the Vietnam war weren't making any such principled stand; they were just scared sh**less of the possibility that they might be drafted themselves. I am always puzzled by wealthy liberals. It's as if they have arbitrarily decided "Ok, we're on THIS side of the fence." They might feel guilted into supporting social programs, but I doubt they'd give up a penny of their own money to see these reforms realized.

 | oscargamblesfro (81) 07/28/2006 | It's quite true that there are limousine liberals. I've met them, in academia, in the entertainment industry, etc. It's a valid description of some liberals, including Kerry and others. Some buffoons even think that any liberal is a limousine liberal, which is utter b.s., there are conservatives, liberals, in- betweens, ( which is probably, at a guess, what the 'average' American really is) and others from all kinds of socioeconomic backgrounds. However, many conservatives have overly raved and foamed at the mouth about this, and then expected you twice to pull the lever on the voting machine for the pampered, clueless son of a powerful, elitist, ruling class dynasty. I'm not a big fan of Kerry at all, but if Kerry's a limousine liberal, which he is, what does that make Bush? A limousine conservative? Some wittier epithet? I'll tell you one thing, he sure ain't the folksy, down home, regular, woodchopping, Jack Armstrong, guy they like to portray him as. I regard people from that nativist, 'proper' American, corporations first, wealthy, condescending, power- mad, no idea how the other 98% lives, background with the same obvious, blatant contempt that they hold for the poor, working, and lower middle to middle classes...i.e. I'm not impressed.
