I have seen trainers all lovey dovely with their dogs, and then after the spotlight is off them, be just as, what I call, abusive. Always see how YOUR dog interacts ~ they are better judges of character than people.

You want a trainer who appears to be having a good time with the dog and seems connected with it. You also want a trainer willing to correct a dog that is not obeying. I do not mean abusing, but stern corrections followed by praise and smiles shows the trainer knows probably what he is doing. You don't want a trainer who can't control his own dog or his dog appears unhappy.
