REM definitely have had a long career and are still viable. The funny thing about their songs is I either really love the song or flat out hate it. There is no middle ground with this band. This is one of those times when I love the song.

It certainly feels like it every time the song comes on the radio. And to make matters worse, in Canada there's a law that says every time they play the R.E.M. version they have to give equal time and play a raucus East coasst/celtic version of the song by Newfoundland party band Great Big Sea.
