 | VirileVagabond (32) 07/30/2006 | As the prior comment notes, the bouquet and garter toss should really be retired as outdated, and I'm usually seen darting for the exit when I feel this one coming. Though normally not an issue until your older friends start getting married (perhaps for the second time), but nothing is sadder than seeing the sole single bridesmaid standing with a bunch of giggling teenage girls waiting for the bouquet. As for the garter, this clearly evolved as some version of the toss "tradition" for the groom. Thinking back, I can't count the times the garter simply landed at our feet as we argued over who had to pick up this harbinger of doom. To cap it all off, the lucky winners usually get their picture taken together. Has any pair ever looked like a winning couple?

Please. . .the bride and groom have already made the beast with two backs and we don't need to pretend we're all Puritans. . .this is one outdated custom that should be retired. . .
