So true...any time a maverick candidate like Barry Goldwater, Howard Dean (who, regardless of what Fox News idolaters claim, actually holds views and ideals that are in-line with the majority of the commonweal) or any other candidate with grass-roots support begins to gain a significant foothold in any campaign, the chickensh*t big-business media seems to pull out all the stops to marginalize them and the disinterested, ill-informed and spoon-fed American public always falls for it. Look no further than that ridiculous, fear mongering "Daisy" ad aired during the 1964 presidential campaign - aired only once, it was still enough to turn the tide against Goldwater in the eyes of a scared American electorate - and then, of course, came the media's reckless and irresponsible overreaction to "The Dean Scream" - which was a funny moment, but should not have cost him his shot at the presidency, nor should it have overshadowed the fact that our men and women were in a sh*thole country dying, not for our, or Iraqi freedom, but to protect big-business Western interest...and I could go on and on with examples. Americans bitch & moan loudly about the ineptness of the elitist & out-of-touch politicians that they elect, but when the time comes to actually do something about it, they revert back to "default" mode and vote for the candidate with the most money and media anointment- which is both fascinating and tragic. I would liken this mindset to that of a junkie: a junkie normally doesn't clean-up his act until he hits rock-bottom, same goes with the electorate. I guess when we've finally hit rock-bottom, as a people, only then will we finally cut ourselves off from these elitist, big-business wh*res who all seem to hold views that are antithetical to the concepts of democracy, but by then it might be too late, so I won't be holding my breath...
