You can play your noise pollution as loud as you want once you buy a house with enough distance from your neighbors so that it doesn't matter.  Any other situation calls for a measure of respect for someone else's level of tolerance to noise pollution- an underrated cause of stress.

I do it often in my "almost sound proof" room. I love the sound and feeling of the base, but sometimes I am asked to lower it because the whole house reverberates, and becomes annoying to family members.

It's annoying when your neighbor's brat crank up the stereo at 1am in the morning.

I live in a town where the police have nothing better to do than to show up to insignificant calls like these ones, so my neighbors have decided they hate me for it. At least they turned down the party a few notches.
