Bumbry wasn't always a great player, but he was a great Oriole. He got to 1 All Star game and won the ROY in 1973. Those are impressive but not overwhelming awards, but something has to be said for a guy who plays 13 years with one team. Just about any guy who lasts that long with an organization will be revered by fans.

Bumbry, an outfielder, did play virtually all of his career with Baltimore, and was a speedy slap hitter who had a very fine year in 1980, with over 200 hits and 40 steals to go with a 318 average. It was far and away his best year, though he had some other good ones, and a pretty good career overall. He wouldn't make an all time Orioles team, but he was a good player at his best, serviceable at worst.
