I wouldn't call this outrageous at all: in 1976 you could still run on the field if your team won a playoff game. Chambliss' home run off Mark Littell of the Royals was indeed quite dramatic, though a good, solid Yankee team promptly got swept by one of the greatest teams of all-time, the Reds- no shame there as that Red team just may have had the best 1-8 hitting team ever. Nowadays, you'll get handcuffed of course, but back in the 70's fans ran on the field all the time- just think of those white afro'd quintessential mid 70's dudes following Aaron around when he hit 715- who probably went home after the game, pulled out joints and beers, hi- fived each other, and then listened to Skynyrd or Foghat...
