Speaking as a long-time Sox fan, who loathes Zimmer the way only long-time Sox fans can, this seemed like only a partial payback for the injuries the Gerbil had inflicted on Boston when he managed them in the late 70's.

Yeah, ok... some big fat man comes charging at me, I'm doing the same thing...as would you. Stop being hypocritical. Zimmer WAS WRONG.. and you all know it. He even apologized because it was HIS fault. Anyone who faults Pedro is DILUSIONAL. You admit that Zimmer's intention was to "kick ass and then some"... sorry it didn't work out that way. And a completely different poster says he was "harmless"... which was it? Harmless or going out there to kick ass? Either way, Pedro was NOT in the wrong. Don't expect not to be "treated like a bull" when you charge like a bull, and then not intend to get a reaction. I'm surprised you people can't see that. Just what you would expect from fans of a team that desperately swats balls, and who continuously gets themselves rocked every time they try and "fight" the Sox. Maybe on the field, you have proven to be dominant (your 26 rings or whatever), but in the brawls I've watched, it looks like the Yankees are batting zero. Eat Grass, Fatman.

Old time baseball man Don Zimmer didn't deserve to be treated like a bull in an arena by pitcher-turned-matador Pedro Martinez. Zimmer was much older than Martinez and completely harmless. Martinez should have been fined, as well as ashamed.
