parrots are amazing most people get the wrong opinion on them, they do not mean to throw their food all over the place. They are messy but a cleaning once a day is usually fine, they do not "throw" their feces they poop yep if you havnt read the book "everybody poops" than you need to go look for it in the childrens book department. Most people should not buy a parrot because most people dont do the research. As i am sitting here i can hear monty my Alexandrine ringneck tossing his food out of his bowl to find his favourite bits this is a commen trait. Also parrot are VERY noisy even a parrot as little as a conure can screech loud enough for you to want to scream back for it to shut up. If you dont like noise dont even think about a cockatoo or a macaw these special birds are designed so their voices can carry through a whole block. My alexandrine can do a fair job at competing with my cockatoo and blue and gold very easily. Alexandrine ringnecks have the same screech as a macaw really horse and deep and can even make my blue and gold scream be quiet :P In all parrots are the most amazing animals my alex having a almost perfect 200 word vocab more than my blue and gold. Parrots are in no way "easy" to take care of trying to vaccuum the small seeds from the carpet is hard enough but changing the water 2-3 times a day because your parrot poos and washes his face in it is another thing, buy a glass water bottle like hamsters have its easy and easy for the parrot make sure its glass or your parrot WILL bite through the plastic and leakage will happen. Over all if you think you are ready for a parrot go for a smaller less noisy messy bird like a cockat"iel" quaker or budgie all have the ability to speak and do tricks.

What has more personallity than a parrot? When your pet can talk back and talk smack, thats entertaining. My moms Amazon could call me out by name because I was in trouble a bit, I guess. UPDATE: The U of A has an African Grey (I think) with the vocabulary of a 7 year old child who asks for things by name and sorts items by color.

When it comes to parrots, I have a thing for Monty Python's Dead Parrot Sketch.

Even if they do leave crap, you can't beat a parrot for entertainment. I knew someone with an Amazon that functioned as an alarm clock. Every morning at 6 AM, this bird would call Rise and shine...wake up sleepyhead! from inside its draped cage. Gotta love that!

Parrots are cute; from what I understand, they can learn as much as a five-year-old human child can, if taught properly, which would be pretty cool to see.

They bite, they squawk, they spread their food and droppings all over. Back to the jungle I say.
