If we live in a system ruled by the law, then we should be proud to be able to become a part of it. And jury duty is a great way of making this nation a fairer and just one.

Haven't had the pleasure but since my area of study is law and forensics I doubt I'd make it past selection.

I got out of this three times by sending the little card back with the words "active duty military" on it. They stopped sending them to me, but even though I'm out now I'd make the poor shmuck's lawyers too nervous to put me on a jury.
"Who do I get to convict today?"

I got a jury duty slip in the mail but i never voted. I thought ya had to vote in order to have to do jury duty. I dont want someone's life to be in my hands mayne and I think I was gonna only get $6 dubs a day.

Jury duty is a great education to see how the system really works. Just hope you don't get stuck with some boring trial where you have dueling accountants counting beans.

Done it, and though I can't say I loved it, it had its moments.

The fact that the trial itself was interesting and both primary lawyers were courtroom warriors and pyrotechnicians certainly added to the interest factor.

A pain in the butt, but I believe EVERYONE should serve, no exemptions. When called, I serve and have never tried to get off jury duty. How many times is it? I've been call twice in the last 30 years.

Unless you have a valid reason why you can't, if you are summoned you should serve.

It's something that needs to be done, so this really qualifies as a "Civic Duty" with the emphasis on "Duty". I've never been able to talk my way out of it, but when I do serve I serve responsibly and unbiased, to the best of my ability.

I believed this until I sat on a jury trial before I graduated college. . .they want old farts and people they can manipulate easily on the jury. . .I was disappointed in the whole event although I still find the law a fascinating process. . .

To get an appropriately diverse population for a jury pool, I feel it is necessary that able-bodied citizens participate in forming juries. Society needs all of its citizens to participate in this process in order to help our legal system be as ethical as it possibly can.
