 | LadyJesusFan777 (34) 04/24/2008 | I think it's the right thing to do, but is overlooked a lot of the time.

 | lmorovan (12) 04/24/2008 | It is ours, and if we don't protect it, who will? The government can issue laws and rules, and can lock you up if you start a forest fire, but locking you up will not reverse the damage.

 | BlueOrchid (41) 05/08/2007 | I think it's an important duty for us all to do. As long as technology is around there's always going to be pollution, but if we can do other things to help preserve the environment it will help us live healthier lives.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 08/24/2006 | Very important if you're smart enough to recognize it. . .it's a health issue as well as quality of life/property value issue as well. . .I'm very elitist about this issue because it seems that the smarter people are the more they take care of their sh#t both in and outside of their house. . .people who live in the fantasy that 'everything's fine' and people cannot possibly do serious damage to this overrated blue ball of dirt and salt water usually have greater issues of hypocrisy, thoughtlessness, and/or inconsideration to deal with. . .

 | DoorGunner (18) 08/24/2006 | We have a duty not to trash the environment, but this duty is not nearly as important as some of those duties at the bottom of the list, such as raising children, protecting the innocent and serving in the military. I'm not surprised. Being green is a helluva lot more convenient. And once you throw away God and morality, it's natural to turn your attention to the earth and how sacred and inviolable it is. You can also lob hand grenades at easy targets like corporations. It sort of fills the vacuum in your soul. Flushing a fetus down a sink doesn't seem so bad if you're green. It's funny how greenies like the Sierra Club rail against those big evil corporations but turn a blind eye to the environmental damage caused by massive immigration, legal and illegal. Are they taking kickbacks from land developers?

 | Djahuti (54) 08/24/2006 | This Should Be a "no-brainer",but it seems a lot of folk brainlessly believe that "pro-environment" folks are "just a bunch of hippie, tree huggin lunatics".The Corporations who pollute your air, water, soil and food are very happy to have pulled the wool over so many eyes! It saves them a lot of money and trouble. While I have met the stereotypical "Airhead" or two at Environmental rallies, most of the people engaging in this worthwhile cause are well-informed,compassionate and highly intelligent. They are all races,ages,religious/spiritual persuasions and genders. What unites them and motivates them is a genuine concern for the well-being of everyone and all life on the planet. To put it simply,we can no longer afford to crap in our own terrarium. There are SERIOUS threats to our health and welfare, not to mention the BEAUTY gifted to us and our progeny by the Creator.

 | LanceRoxas (40) 08/23/2006 | Obviously you don't trash where you live and the benefits to disrupting the environment always have to be weighed against the cost. This is conveniently done through our system of government. Yeah at times the environmental lobbby is too powerful and yeah at others the corporate lobby is going to be too powereful. But at the end of the day the voters will get what they want at the voting box and no one wants their kid swimming in sewarage or chemical waste.

 | Randyman (103) 08/22/2006 | Hey, it's our home, we're not getting another one, at least not in our lifetime, so we better take care of it. There is no doubt that we can be more responsible. It's our National Duty to take care of our country, and our planet. On the other hand blaming SUV owner's is not the way to go.

 | zuchinibut (36) 08/22/2006 | With the world's growing population, we take so much away from the environment. I believe that everybody has a duty to conserve energy and resources as much as possible and respect nature around them. The government encourages this by creating fines for pollution and designated space for National, State, and Regional Parks. Protecting our environment is not just something that should be done by hippies and tree huggers, but is something that everybody should be conscious of in their daily lives.
