 | babaoreeally (13) 08/24/2006 | Okay, I'll bite, but only because I am feeling cheeky this evening.
Protect innocent life from harm? Nah, that does not sound very profitable to me. I would much rather spend my time abusing baby seals and making REAL bunny slippers. If my footwear is going to have eyes, ears and a tail they had better be authentic.
Pardon me, I need another glass of lamb blood to wash down my endangered-marine-mammal entree....
Okay, back. Where was I?
Oh, never mind. I'm guessing this little posting was either meant to be incendiary (ie get some endless debate over war or abortion) or is just a prank with no specific purpose.
Moving on...

 | DoorGunner (18) 08/24/2006 | You mean like human fetuses? I'm sure they're high up on the Democratic Party's list of oppressed minorities. Be that as it may, this is a culture that increasingly harms children in the name of "choice," "career," "freedom of expression," and a dozen other reasons not to consider the needs of children. I cannot believe the sewage that seeps forth from our televisions every day, and children see and hear it. Someone says, "If you don't like it, turn it off." What a facile argument. You can't always there to turn it off, and don't the purveyors of this trash bear any responsibility to your children and mine? Children should be allowed to maintain their innocence for as long as possible because once it's gone, it's gone for good. But how long can a kid keep his innocence in this sex-saturated society we've created? Sometimes censorship is a good thing.

 | LanceRoxas (40) 08/23/2006 | NAH!!! Are you kidding me? Roe v Wade and our Supreme Guardian Council has ruled on this numerous times! Webster, Stenberg! The list goes on! Protect innocent human life so long as it serves those in power they say... if not- just murder it! KILL INNOCENT HUMAN LIFE- its your God Given Right!!
Unwanted baby child? Have an abortionist pull it out by its feet prior to birth, stick a pair of scissors in its skull and suck the baby's brains out with a vacuum then pull its dead body out of the birth canal! IT'S YOUR RIGHT! IT YOUR BODY! IT's YOUR CHOICE! IT's The ESSENCE OF FREEDOOM- TO KILL THOSE WEAKER THAN YOU so long as they are incovenient!
Old senile granny causing you trouble? Move to Oregon and off her inconvenient ass!
Crippled wife with brain damage? Move to Florida and starve her retarded inconvenient soul- that ungrateful bitch! I mean geez you have a life to live already!
Protect innocent life... yeah right!

 | Jed1000 (72) 08/23/2006 | That would be a moral duty.. not a civic duty. I would hope that most people would want to protect the innocent from harm because it's the right thing to do and not because it's expected of them as a citizen.

 | Randyman (103) 08/22/2006 | Well, I enlisted in the U.S Navy, to serve my country, and protecting innocent lives, would be one of their "Civic Duties". On a more personal, and nonmilitary level, the term innocence can be somewhat blurred, so it depends. On another level, would I intervene if I saw someone being attacked, hurt or worse. Well I have done this already, and paid dearly for it by getting stabbed. But I guess I would do it again, if I was ever in that situation again.

 | zuchinibut (36) 08/22/2006 | Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. Great phrase, but its impossible to achieve the last two if you don't have life. I think it is a duty to protect individuals from harm, and our society makes great attempts to do so. That is why we have a strong military and extensive police, fire, and emergency services. However, the protection of life is something that is not easy to accomplish, and we need greater effort from the government and individuals in order to improve this even more.

 | CanadaSucks (45) 08/22/2006 | Depends and is flexible. . .who is 'innocent' and why? Freedom and choice come before life or else your life isn't yours but someone else's concept. . .
