I think that if someone was in danger, then that is definitely right to report. There are ways to report crime without getting involved and so on most occasions I would use that option! When it comes to petty crime I don't know what I would do, never seen it really. However saying all that, if I thought something could happen to my family or me because of getting involved; I would walk away!

I say YES! We all have a civic duty to report crime. Your family member may be the next victim.

I give it a 5 for cases of national security, murder, rape- stuff like that. A 1 for the cowardly and petty ratting out things like, say, telling on someone smoking a joint behind a bush and dumb things like that. There's too much ratting, telling on people, narcing, and nosiness around in the country today, plus all the voyeuristic bull out there.

I'm no rat, civic duty or not. That's just the way I grew up and some habits die hard. Unless someone is getting hurt, I rarely stick my nose in anyone's business.

I understand people who choose not to act as Narcs because of fear for their wellbeing, but I can't accept it from people who do it because of apathy. Granted, there are crimes like speeding and marijuana, that should not fall under this category, but major crimes need to be alerted to authorities. Allowing individuals to get away with serious crimes is a serious threat to our society.

Usually. . .but would you turn in a relative? And don't even think about using this as an absolute rule for the drugs and alcohol use in college or no one would be working/holding a job/raising a family. . .
