I have been paying for eight years into their "premium" plan that presumably covers illnesses as well as accidental care. They refused my claim because they determined that my dog contracted bladder stones before the renewal of the policy. If my dog got sick later on in the year she would be covered but because she got sick around the time the plan was renewed, she was not covered. Judging by the earlier posts this is a common practice by this insurance company. They can theoretically reject "any and all " illnesses by stating that it was caused before the renewal date and it is up to the consumer to prove them different. Thiey are totally misleading and unethical.

I have had a very bad experience twice with this company. My dog has been covered for 10 years by this plan, and they have TWICE refused to pay claims for surgeries done during the first 90 days fter the renewal date. They say that anything that occurs during this time period is pre-existing, even if your pet has been continuously covered by them. You pay for 12 months of coverage but only get 9 months (except for routine preventative services)!

**** DO NOT WASTE Y0UR MONEY ON THIS PLAN. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE WHERE THEY MAY ACTUALLY PAY A CLAIM OTHER THAN WHEN THE STARS ARE IN PERFECT ONE TIME ALIGNMENT ON MARS.**** I would not even give this company 1/2 star. The coverage is illusory only. It seems that they will will not honor a legitimate claim in a legitimate amount under any circumstances. My dog has been continuously covered for eight years. In all that time, the animal luckily has been mostly healthy. Yet, anytime I submit a bill, always for $100.00's of dollars, after they do their "magic", they maybe send a check for $13.00 of agreed expense. It was a joke in our house. Now, the dog injured himself. First he pulled his ACL ligament, and two months later tore right through it and needed surgery to reattach it. However, the policy happened to come up for renewal in the interem and so they deny the claim for all surgical intervention in its entirety on a policy in continuous effect through multiple renewals becau... I too, am very dissatisfied with this company. I have been paying premiums for 5 years and never filed a claim until this month. It was denied because of some very obscure language in the policy that essentially will not allow you file a claim on something that occurred in the previous "plan year" even if it did not require any treatment at the time. My dog had a very small growth on her eyelid that the Vet just wanted to watch to see if it grew larger or not. About 1 year later, the vet recommended removing it because it had grown and he said it would eventually start causing problems. The company denied the claim because it occurred in the previous plan year. I feel totally scammed by this company!

I HAVE ONE WORD FOR THESE IDIOTS...SUE..SUE AND SUE..THEY ARE BY FAR AN ABSOLUTE RIPOFF. FIRST THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY,,THEN THEY SAY REASONABLE COSTS..THEY DEFINE THIS AS THEIR SURVEY FOR PRICES..YEP..I GUESS IF YOU GO TO PLACES WITH A POPULATION OF 10 WITH A FARM VET. I HAVE SUED THEM ONCE AND WON AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO IF I HAVE TO. FILE IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT AND ROCK THEIR WORLD A LITTLE BIT!!! I AM NOT ONE OF THE PEOPLE THAT WILL TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER WHEN I FILE A LEGITAMATE CLAIM. MY CAT HAS KIDNEY ISSUES WHICH IS CONSIDERED A PRE EXISTING CONDITION AND IS NOT COVERED,,I KNOW THAT BUT IF MY CAT BROKE HIS LEG THEY WOULD SAY THEY''RE NOT PAYING BECAUSE THE CAT WAS GOING UP TO THE BATHROOM WHEN IT HAPPENED FROM "KIDNEY" PROBLEMS....NO MATTER WHAT THEY FIND AN EXCUSE NOT TO PAY!!!! MY VET RECCOMENDS "GOPETPLAN".

Hum it seems we are all having the same problems with these bozoos ! Without a doubt the worst insurance plan I have ever seen. We have had to submit claims several times for each occurance as they loose everything. When they pay a claim it is a small fraction of the invoiced cost! Paperwork is impossible ! Would never recomend this product to anyone ! Avoid Petshealth Care Plan at all costs. At a time when good businesses are going out of business this is one that needs to go! I wish I would have read these comments before we got involved with this outfit ! Unbelievable !!!!!!

Policy excludes genetic disorders the following policy year. Also invoke reasonable & customary clause to lower costs. The best plan is Petplan-USA, www.gopetplan.com

-Delay of claims, lost claim materials. Problems always come up with the company - new computer systems, lack of human resources, changes in companies. They too look for all types of reasons to disallow charges, deny claims and appeals do not work to reverse their decisions. Expect to receive 50 cents per claim, not the 80% reimbursement they promise. I will not renew my policy. Pre-existing conditions get carried over from year to year.. Save your money and more important -TIME and just put aside money each month for the pet bills.

I have been having the same problem with them. First of all, I don't understand why the plan period should make a difference on the coverage. Just because you are in a new year on the policy should not mean that they will no longer cover a condition that started in the previous plan period. Also, they do look for any reason not to pay. I've appealed a claim with them once before and, of course, they still disallowed it. And now I am going through the process again. I would NEVER recommend Petshealth!!!

I would not recommend PetsHealth Care Plan. I have to file a dispute on nearly every claim I submit and they still don't pay everything that they should. On my biggest claim, they stalled and stalled and stalled on responding to my claim. I filed an appeal and they just ignored it. I did not want to go to court over the matter so they've refused to pay anything on the claim. So unless you are prepared to take these assholes to court to get your claims paid, pick another reputable pet insurance provider such as VPI. Petshealth Care Plan is not a reputable insurance provider in my opinion and they need to be forced out of the market.
