I first purchased Embrace Pet Insurance in March of 2008, when I brought home my rescue kitten. I added a second kitten in about July of 2008.

Both of my cats have been, thankfully, extraordinarily healthy. The first one, though, had diarrahea for a few days, and I decided out of an abundance of caution to bring her to the vet to make sure that nothing serious was wrong with her.

I followed all the rules and filed the appropriate claim forms with Embrace, who then advised me that they also needed to have the doctors' notes of any vet. that had seen my cat. First, I should add that I feel strongly that requesting the doctors' notes is very invasive. Even my own insurance doesn't require these of my own doctors.

Anyway, it turned out that days after I brought my cat home from the rescue place, I had her thoroughly checked out by my favorite house calls feline internist. I'd forgotten that just after I'd brought my cat home, she'd had somewhat loose stools that were mentioned in the doctor's notes. As it turned out, this was just from fear and the stress of being in a new home combined with a new diet. Because of this, Embrace disqualified my claim 11 months later because they said that my cat had a "pre-existing condition."

I should probably be grateful that I found out now what a fraudulent company Embrace is because I've been spending $86 a month with them for quite some time. I'm setting up a special account and depositing that same $86 a month into it for the care of my cats. At least if I need to draw on my own pet savings account, I won't ask myself for claim forms, doctors' notes, nor apply non-existent "pre-existing conditions" to my own claim.

Use your own judgment, but I could never in good faith recommend this company. And be extra careful, because when they first sign you up, they're very, very nice. It's only when you file a claim....

They are the best in the field. People there go out of their way to be helpful and they really seem to care about your pet. They cover a lot that other companies simply do not. They pay promptly and as promised in their policy. I am thrilled with them and reccommend them without reservation.
