I do a lot of shopping at BJ's Wholesale Club. They sell their store brand called Berkley & Johnson. Well, I've been using their brand of cat litter for 5 years now. I used to have 2 cats (now I'm down to one - I miss you Kashi!!) that shared the same litter pan. The last time I bought the litter, it came in a purple box with an inner bag. I just called BJ's to confirm this info: it's clumping/scoopable litter, multiple cat formula, comes in a 40 pound box and sells for $7.00 ... My opinion: it works just great! Even w/ 2 cats. And it's cheap. My cats didn't seem to mind it at all. It seems to cover up any noticeable nasty odors pretty well. I'd recommend it to anyone to at least try, assuming you shop at BJ's. I plan on using it until they either stop making it, or I don't own any cats.
