Actually, Little Village is Chicago's largest Mexican Community. Ironically both used to be Czech neighborhoods. Safety and gangs are an issue here.

Pilsen is west of the Loop and a little south. It gets its name from Plzen, or in German, Pilsen, in the Czech Republic. Plzen or Pilsen is where pilsner beer comes from. In any event it was primarily Czechs and other Central Europeans. Then Mexicans moved in and took over the area. Now the real estate agents are moving in and Pilsen's fate seems to be more gentrification. Since it is so close to the loop and has lots of neat old buildings, I think that Pilsen will lose its Mexican majority in the near future.
