I check it from time to time to see if anyone else has submitted their names to the list. I have rated several people (those who I read or talk to most often).

A good list. I asked to have my name removed a while back because some people started using the Lord's name in vain under my listing and I did not appreciate it. Rate me, curse at me but don't curse/ blaspheme my God or my family.

I befriended many of these people and found very interesting, friendly, intriguing, intelligent, and genuine. God bless them all!!!

People read into these far too much and take the posts as personally attacks if the reviews are anything below a 4. I, for example, have learned to accept my status as #80 out of a 100 (lol) because I realize (like most people) that self worth is measured in much more than a rating. Regarding those who seem to have such vigorous contempt for these types of lists...give me a break. Those types seem to be the ones who post the most on fellow reviewers.

Ignorant trash. Serves no purpose except for people to get an ego rush to read about themselves and the-person-I'm-so-mad-at-right-now. Grow up. If you love or hate someone here, e-mail them and do us all a favor and stop wasting the website space.

This list is really just an argument forum, but I find it entertaining. I find it slightly irritating however, that both people who rated me one star did not leave a comment.

Though obviously popular with many reviewers, I see it more as a forum for either patting each other on the back, or the other extreme of just bickering and/or below-the-belt comments, neither of which are all that helpful. True, I tended to lean towards rating not only the quality of reviews but also taking into account personal messages and how they present themselves there as well, as a reviewer and as a person; I also had the tendency to jump in and back someone up if I felt they were being unfairly judged, or if I felt a newcomer particularly stood out. Are those the proper criteria for rating? Probably not. There's a good reason why I haven't visited that part of the site for a long time. I'd rather judge what I think about a reviewer on their ratings and what correspondence we may have, not their popularity or ranking amongst everyone else.

PBeavr made an excellent point which I've never considered before. We should use this type of weblist to judge the quality of the rater, not what we think of them as a person or to have a tit for tat episode. I myself am not brave enough to give anything less then a 4 precisely because you can make enemies like that. Because people do see it as what you think of them as a person, and take any judgement on the quality of their reviews as being a personal criticism. It is just human nature to do that. This is potentially a good website but because people take it personally, put their emotions into it and use it as a way to get revenge on other people, then this has defeated the purpose of the weblist and therefore, since people don't know how to use it responsibly, I have my reservations. On the other hand, I enjoy the weblist. I don't use those weblists to stroke people's egos, I do it to give encouragement because it is a nice feeling when someone gives you a 4 or 5 star rating.... I enjoy this weblist alot. It gives me a chance to let other reviewers know what I think about their comments and express myself. It also gives me chance to hear how others feel about what I write. Not that I would change anything I do, but a little feedback never hurts. It's also a good place to find a debating opponent.

As others have noted, the people who rate me low never leave a comment. The fact that they feel that they have to hit and run instead of attempting to present a cogent reason for their rating (of course they're too chicken to come out and say He's a Conservative Christian which is what they really believe) tells me that I'm doing something right. A pocket dictionary and a thesaurus can make you an unstoppable force on RIA.

My favorite list on RIA. Magellan did a wonderful job. You find out what people really think of you.

kInd of in the middle. I only Rate if I have something nice to say. That does not mean If i did NOT rate someone I have bad thoughts.I just would not want to personally attack someone for all to see. This list could open up for hurt feelings or flame wars.

I love this weblist because it gives me the chance to reward folks who give me helpfuls and send me nice emails. It also gives the opportunity to get even with those who slam me or send me hate mail. If I'm too chicken to bash them outright, I can just rate them a 1, and laugh with glee as their rating on the list plummets...NOT! I am completely joking here. I actually kind of wish we didn't have this weblist because of the popularity contest aspects of it. But I am giving it a 3 because there is no doubt it is entertaining and makes for some compelling reading.

I agree with Bird although I'm not on the fence about it. Absolutely and without doubt THE worst type of list. Never rated one... never will.

I'm a little on the fence for this one as the majority of the time it serves as an open arena for personal attacks and revenge rather than someones worth as a reviewer. I can completely understand why some prefer not to be on these lists.
