Actually Oscar has it slightly wrong. This was the thirdbaseman for the long extinct Cleveland Spiders of the National League from 1895-1897. He was traded to the Cubs in '98, but got hurt and wound up playing in the Pacific Coast league for a few years before attempting an ill fated comeback in '05. Unfortunately he was run over by a trolley car in Brooklyn the morning of the day he was supposed to start for the Dodgers.

Oscar is probably confusing him with Ruck Fush, who was the shortstop he mentions.

Yeah, I get the wordplay, but I think this guy was actually the catcher for the 1906 Cardinals.
