Outside of regular visits, it's generally no fun to go to the vet's office, since that means there's possibly something seriously wrong with your pet and you're worrying. It's a very nerve-wracking, and possibly frightening experience for people who bring in their even-more frightened pet. Sometimes, you get the good news that whatever is wrong can be fixed. Then, other times, you hear the dreaded words, and there's no amount of bracing that will absorb that impact fully.
The best thing the veterinary staff can do is be compassionate and sensitive, both to the pet and the person. It won't make everything all better, but it does help to have support in difficult times.
