Ma Ferguson was a crook as was her husband, Pa Ferguson, when he was Governor of Texas.

Pa Ferguson was impeached and removed from office for corruption and he had his wife run for the job stating that the citizens of Texas would get two governors for the price of one.

For some strange reason, she won. Then after pardoning 100 criminals a month and taking kickbacks, so they say, Ma was defeated a couple more times.

Then the benighted voters of Texas elected her one more time in 1932 during the depression.

Fortunately for Texas, the Texas Governor's terms were only two years in those days, so Miriam A. "Ma" Ferguson only had four years to do her larceny.

Early proof that graft, corruption, and incompetence are not limited to male politicians. You have to admit she was one of a kind, though.
