 | JohnSpina (17) 04/04/2006 | McGovern was a fine American and a decent, honorable man.He was just too liberal for my tastes.2 years later,we know what happened to Nixon.

 | Drummond (58) 12/05/2005 | McGovern was easily the most left wing candidate ever nominated by a major party. A great man who ran a very bad campaign, but would have made a much better president as we all now know.
There's a new documentary out about his 72 campaign with some up until now unseen footage.

 | GenghisTheHun (172) 08/30/2005 | George McGovern? He was and is a whiner and a loser. He is becoming an elder statesman under the strict merit system. He has lived into his eighties.

 | Jar-Jar Binks (16) 04/02/2005 | Nixon won because he was able to convince Americans that McGovern was a left-wing radical who would cut and run from Vietnam.

 | jgls (12) 09/03/2004 | even with nixon's baggage mcgovern managed to win only in massachusetts and d.c. he didn't even win his home state. he had to dump his veep after the convention. on top of that, his acceptance speech wasn't even delivered in prime time, he gave it at about 2 in the morning when practically everyone was asleep. not that it mattered, his speech sucked.
