How many electoral votes did Mondale win again? Oh right, 13 out of 538. But, clearly, Mondale was the superior candidate, experience-wise. I'm starting to hear the Twilight Zone music when I read Gore08's political posts, it's like something from another dimension. Reagan restored America's confidence and swagger in a way no democrat (or, to be honest, any other republican) could imagine. And he did it with ease and confidence. Every presidential candidate since 1984 has promised Reaganesque job creation, international respect and economic growth whether or not they had any clue how to accomplish it (most don't). Reagan coined the term "peace through strength" when nobody believed it was possible anymore.

The Press kept beating the drums all summer about the gender gap, telling us that Reagan was losing the vote of women. They would hound him at press conferences to ask him what he was going to do about his lack of support among the women of America. (Strangely, they never asked Mondale why he was trailing so badly among men in the polls). Then, on election day, Reagan not only carried 49 states, but also got the women's vote as well! Just more evidence that the press and many pollsters are underhanded and have an agenda of their own.

Mondale was a boring Jimmy Carter.

Mondale should've won this one. Unlike Reagan, he knew the problems of many left-out Americans. He just couldn't convince the people. Reagan won because the economy suddenly soared out of that recession.

Mondale should have won. Reagan's economic plan left America in a recession in 1988. Poor republican strategy.

This was a horrible race. The right man won though. Mondale only carried his home state, Minnesota, and the ultra minority DC.
