At the very least, stick around as you are a witness. If you wanna do something about the morons, be ready and be careful.

i would help if i could but i wouldn't go out of my way to get involved. i would feel bad im sure. i have a friend who recently was fired from a job even though he was a good dependable employee who was more than qualified for his job. the reason behind his firing was shortly after he was hired he found out his supervisor was stealing from the company and he spoke up and his supervisor was fired. his replacement was in on the theft and a friend of the supervisor as was it seems many of the employees so my friend became an instant enemy of many and eventually lost his job. so in his case doing the right thing isnt going to pay his rent or feed his kids.

Calling the police to report the incident is the very least you should do! I wouldn't suggest approaching a gang of large people breaking into someone's house (unless you have a death wish, or unless you're like Tony Jaa and can beat the crap out of 50 guys without breaking a sweat), but if some guy snags someone's purse and you can stop them, then do it! And if someone picked the pocket of one of my friends, hell if I don't at least try to chase them down!

I wouldn't chase them down, but I'd certainly try to keep in mind their appearance, the car and the tag number so I could tell police what I saw.

At the very least I would call 911 and observe to get accurate details to pass on to the police.

I'm at a gas station a couple weeks back, minding my own business pumping gas when I'm briskly approached by a late-twenties scruffly looking fellow who begins speaking to me like we're boys, except he's a little curt with me. He says "hey just give me a couple quarters for this dollar". I said here's a couple quarters, don't worry about it. He heads over to the phone booth and smashes the phone again and again against the machine, shattering the receiving end. After this he walks by my friend who is also standing outside, whistles at her, and then walks over to the front of the station and starts yelling at no one. As he headed back towards us I tightened up my laces in case it came down to an altercation, but he walked over to the other phone and proceeded to smash it against that booth. At that point we drove away. I figured the smartest thing I could do, certainly rather than confront the guy, was call the cops at a different location. They headed to the scene and I later was informed that he had a couple felony warrants out on him. If I had tried to be a tough guy and stuck my nose out there I'd have been asking for trouble.
