Delfina's food was good, but I think it is a tad bit overrated. The reservation wait time is not equal to the food. The service is ok though.

went there a few months back, the food is still great, but certainly delfina has lost a step or two from a few years back.

Some of the best food in SF if you can get in.

This is a very trendy restaurant in the Mission district (18th between Valencia and Guerrero) and the food is excellent. I went with two other people and we all got different dishes and each of us enjoyed what we ordered. The menu changes every day, so you are always getting what is fresh and in season. A couple of things to keep in mind, however. First, the selection is pretty small. There were fewer than 10 choices for an entree. In fact, the wine list was much longer than the menu (which isn't so bad if you are a wine lover). Second, the dining area is pretty small and the tables are crowded together. This is particularly true by the window (where we sat). Our chairs were constantly bumping into the chairs from the table behind us. Despite these small drawbacks, it is worth the trip. But, be sure to make reservations in advance. We called that day (a Tuesday) to try to reserve a table and we had two choices 5:30 or 9:30.

I live right around the block from Delfina, and purposefully avoided going there for more than 4 months. This place was always packed to the gills with yuppies, and just looked unbearably trendy. As my friend put it, it looked like the kind of place where you can drop a lot of money and walk out still hungry. Well, I finally faced my fears and ate there, and it was a pleasant surprise. I had a nice sea bass plate, an excellent salad, and the best french fries that I've ever had. While the place is quite pricy, it is packed with trendy looking somewhat annoying people, and it is "too cool for school" - the food is definitely worth going for.
