10/03/2006 | It strikes me that being "angry at the world" has now reached epidemic status,not just for "Trolls".Just take a ride on the freeway or sample some popular video games.Perhaps modern man,despite all the so-called conveniences and soft-living among creature comforts has realized he is being raped and robbed of his birthright by the very machinery that claims to have provided him with "the best,latest technology availabe" and to make him "safe".It was the noted psychologist Erich Fromm who theorized that Human Beings live with the existential dilemma of desperately wanting two mutually exclusive things: Freedom vs Safety.Safety is always illusory,and can never truly be guaranteed while true freedom comes with so much responsibility for ones own state that most folks are terrified of it.Today,more than ever,Fromms statements ring true.
